Last Sunday (July 15^th), I had the pleasure of attending my mentor, Dr. Ebony Utley’s book release party in Hollywood. Being that I was one of the select few who had an opportunity to read the book (Rap & Religion: Understanding the Gangsta’s God) before it came out, I was both honored and super proud of Dr. Utley’s accomplishments.

Since the release party was hosted at an upscale lounge in Hollywood (The Blue Goose Lounge), I decided to wear a deep-pink fitted dress with a vintage lace vest on top. I could’ve chosen to ditch the vest – in fact, I’ve worn the dress by itself out to clubs before – but I thought it would be more appropriate (and classy) to cover up any unnecessary skin. I emphasized the lacey texture of the vest by wearing accessories with pearls and other delicate details, and I topped it all off with a pair of comfortable nude heels. Overall, I had a wonderful time at the book release party and I wish Dr. Utley the best of luck and continued success with the book!
