On Tuesday, July 31, I was invited to attend a private rooftop fashion show for the “Old Hollywood” inspired fashion label, Oliventa Clothing. The label’s owner and head designer, Shon Williams, and I have been friends since we first met at the Long Beach “Rags II Rhythms” fashion show, and since then I’ve seen his label develop and expand in many amazing ways.
Stay tuned to LLL for the exclusive interview on Shon Williams & Oliventa Clothing… There’s video too!

Since the fashion show was on a rooftop (located at the gorgeous, Perch L.A., in downtown Los Angeles), I decided to throw a jean vest on top of an orange fitted dress. The dress, when unpaired, can actually be worn to a club or out dancing with friends, and so not only does the vest “dress down” the dress, but it also knocks off the chill of being outside.
DIY: The vest was actually a jacket before I cut off the sleeves. I used an electric sand machine to fray the edges and then washed it to give it more of a vintage look.
I’ll probably go back and re-sand it to create more of a “ripped effect”, but since I created it just two hours before the show, I didn’t really have time to prep it like I wanted. The leopard print on the collar was already part of the jacket.
